The Dreaded First Post

And so it begins.  I have pictured this moment for a long while, but like many plans that I make in my life, I stored it away with the quiet acceptance that while it seemed a grand idea, it would likely never come to fruition.  But I've been reading a lot of blogs lately, and playing around with my camera a great deal, and I'm hoping that I've come to some crucial level of inspiration that will vault me forward in my hopes of actually doing the thing I've meant to do for years: start a blog.

It all seems so silly at this moment- I've never even been able to keep a diary.  But I can achieve a level of comfort at the keyboard that I've never had with pen and paper, and perhaps that will make all of the difference.

I will admit, I've spent hours tonight thinking about how the perfect topic for this first post would be to explain the name I've come up with for the blog.  But after spending nearly an hour futzing around with the template (and still not coming up with what I wanted), and finding that as I sit down to type, it's more of a rambling stream-of-consciousness that's coming to mind, I'm beginning to think that the second post will be the one to do the intended job of the first.

I do, however, want to take a moment to state my intentions.  I wish to try out this "writing muscle" that's been itching to be used for years, and I figure that at minimum I can create a little spot where family and friends can come to follow the goings-on of my two wonderful children, Abigail and Michael.  At maximum- who knows?  Maybe years from now I'll have established a following far beyond that.

I hope to keep a fun, lighthearted record of the amazing developments in the life of my family, but I won't necessarily limit it to anecdotal tales of mischief and mayhem.  At this point in time, I'm simply repeating the mantra "no rules, just write."  And we'll see where we end up from here.

As I sign off for the evening, I'll leave you with a picture of my two cuties.  Good night, and enjoy!
